Andrew Green steps down after 34 years of fund management

Andrew Green is set to retire from portfolio management after 34 years running the GAM UK Diversified and Global Diversified funds.

From January 2018 Green (pictured), one of the UK’s longest serving fund managers, will step down but continue to manage select mandates and provide support to GAM’s equity teams in a new role as director of global equities strategy.

Group CEO Alexander Friedman said: “Andrew has gained legendary status in the industry. He is universally lauded as an outstanding and disciplined investor, a status underscored by numerous awards and accolades throughout his career.

“His investment philosophy has helped to create GAM’s conviction-led culture, forming one of the core principles on which our brand is built today.”

The management of the UK Diversified fund will be taken over by Chris Morrison and Adrian Gosden, the latter having joined in September 2017 after 13 years managing Artemis equity income funds.

Morrison has been working for GAM in support of Green as an investment manager for the past seven years.

Meanwhile, Ali Miremadi, who joined GAM in 2016 from THS Partners and has 23 years’ investment experience, will take over management of the Global Diversified fund.

GAM expands Systematic range with third strategy

Green said: “I was fortunate to join GAM when it was first founded by Gilbert de Botton in 1983, and I look back fondly on those fascinating 34 years with the company.

Gilbert’s entrepreneurial spirit and innovative approach to meeting clients’ needs through active management are still at the core of GAM’s DNA.

“True to these values, Adrian, Chris and Ali are passionate about delivering meaningful returns for clients, and I wish them every success in the future.”
