Frank Thormann joins Schroders from Union Investment
Schroders has expanded its global equities team with the appointment of Frank Thormann as a portfolio manager.
At Frankfurt-based Union Investment, Thormann (pictured) was a senior portfolio manager with responsibility for the UniFavorit Concentrated Global Equity fund, which during his tenure achieved a five star rating from Morningstar and saw its assets grow to €2bn from €190m in 2010.
Commenting on the appointment, Schroders head of global equities Alex Tedder said: “He is a genuine stock-picker with an investment approach that is entirely complementary to that of the team.”
Thormann initially joined Union Investment in 2008 to focus on the North American component of the firm’s concentrated global equity portfolios.
Prior to this, he was a multi-industry analyst at American Century Investments in Kansas City, working on the firm’s Ultra and AC Select Equity funds.
Tedder added: “Frank is a strong investor with a proven track record founded on an intimate knowledge of the US equity market, a significant constituent of our global equity portfolios”.
